About the Vineyards...

Château de Beaulon

Built in 1480 Château de Beaulon is one of the oldest, most beautiful, and authentic jewels found in the Saintonge region. Its park is listed as an Historical Site. Nestled in the depths of the centuries-old park lie the famous “Fontaines Bleues” or natural springs. In the 17th Century, the heir to Château de Beaulon Monsignor de Nesmond, Bishop and Adviser to Louis XIV allowed the Bishops of Bordeaux to manage the Estate and they had a defining influence on the vineyards. Pineau des Charente Cognac began to be distilled here in 1712. The current owner Christian Thomas maintains the traditional vine stocks used for four centuries at Château de Beaulon; the Folle Blanche, Colombard, Montils, and Bordeaux varieties along with the Ugni Blanc. Mr. Thomas favors bio culture over modern chemical fertilizers, pesticides, & weed killers. The quality & taste of their Cognac & Pineau is among the best in the region and are proof that the Fin Bois region produces products rivalling the Champagnes.

Chateau de Montifaud
Chateau de Montifaud is owned & produced by the Vallet family in the village of Jarnac-Champagne, France & has been for nearly three centuries. Their first vineyard about 3 hectares (nearly 7.5 acres) was purchased in the early 1800’s. The Vallet’s vineyards received the appellation ‘Chateau’ in 1866(very rare for a Cognac producing vineyard) when the castle was built & has been passed down for 6 generations. The original castle sadly, was destroyed by a bomb during WWII and was replaced by their current home in 1947 by Maurice Vallet and was later expanded by Maurice’s son Louis. The Vallets eventually expanded their vineyards to 75 hectares (185 acres) which now supplies all of the wine used to make their cognac. The Vallets were one of the first vine growers in their area to sell their cognac directly and together, we are very excited to give you the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful spirit.

Domaine du Buisson

The Cognacs from Domaine du Buisson have a unique character: They are exclusively produced from their vineyards, distilled and aged in oak casks on the family-owned estate since 1880. In order to keep with the specificity of the Borderies Cognacs, the distilled eaux-de-vie are aged uncut, without added water during blending. This way, during the aging process, the extraction of tannins gives the cognac the richness of the Borderies soil.

Ragnaud-Sabourin
The Ragnaud-Sabourin Family owns one of the most prestigious private estates in the Grande Champagne. The estate, consisting of 114 acres, was established in  1850 by M. Gaston Briand then President of Wine Growers of the Charentes Federation. The main street in the capital city of the grand champagne region Sogonzac is name after him. Ragnaud-Sabourin is now managed by third and fourth generations of founding family. All grapes used in their cognacs are grown in their vineyards. The estate cultivates Ugni-Blanc and Folle Blanche with all distillation and maturation in Limousin Oak directly on the estate. The house style since 1850 produces cognacs all above the usual strength of 80 proof, with the weight elegance, and all the finesse expected of the Grande Champagne Cru.
